About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach applied piano lessons to both graduate and undergraduate students
- Instruct piano skills and piano literature classes
- Maintain active professional expertise in piano performance and pedagogy
- Serve on various university, college, and school committees
- Participate in student recruitment, program development, and community outreach
- Perform other teaching duties within the candidate's area of expertise as assigned
Requirements
- Doctorate in piano (or ABD)
- Significant experience in studio teaching
- Significant performance experience as both a solo and collaborative pianist
- Ability to implement new pedagogies and 21st-century classroom strategies
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing and teaching across diverse musical genres and styles
- Developing national or international profile as an artist-scholar
- Demonstrated success in student recruitment
- Cross-cultural competencies to effectively engage with diverse student populations and community members
