Visiting Assistant Professor of Criminology

Responsibilities

• Instruct a range of undergraduate courses within the criminology curriculum
• Assess student work and provide detailed feedback on content knowledge, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Mentor undergraduate students through one-on-one and group interactions, including senior capstone theses and internships
• Create inclusive learning spaces in and outside the classroom
• Develop opportunities for community-engaged learning
• Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and college-wide activities

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Criminology, Sociology, or a closely related discipline (must be completed by August 2026)
• Proven excellence in teaching undergraduate students
• Experience mentoring undergraduate students
• Ability to bridge the disciplines of sociology and criminology
• Commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, and research

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching proficiencies in critical or comparative criminology
• Experience designing and teaching innovative courses
• A record of fostering environments that stimulate intellectual growth and engagement
• Experience working with diverse student populations and communities
