Visiting Assistant Professor in K-6 Literacy Education

Responsibilities

• Teach theoretical knowledge and supervise student clinical experiences for Elementary Education, Transition to Teaching, and Literacy Specialists Master’s programs
• Plan and oversee practical classroom experiences for candidates in various settings, including on-campus, clinical, and online environments
• Engage in an active scholarly research agenda, including publications and professional presentations
• Collaborate with faculty, students, and K-12 school and community partners to support student learning and program innovation
• Oversee candidates and teachers within practicum settings

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of experience teaching literacy in K-6 schools, preferably in urban settings
• Valid Elementary Teaching License
• Demonstrated training in the Science of Reading
• International Dyslexia Association KPEERI Credential
• Proven ability to teach linguistically and culturally diverse students
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Literacy Education
• Indiana Early Literacy License
• Experience teaching in hybrid and online environments at the university level
• Experience with children with reading difficulties or disabilities
• Experience with university-level teaching, research, and service
