Visiting Assistant Professor in Data Science

Responsibilities

• Teach the equivalent of six courses during the academic year
• Lead a two-course sequence in Python programming for Data Science (DS 256 and DS 325)
• Support students from diverse academic backgrounds in mastering data science fundamentals
• Develop and teach elective courses in areas such as statistics, machine learning, cultural analytics, or data ethics
• Contribute to the growth of the interdisciplinary Data Science minor and the development of a new major

Requirements

• PhD preferred (Master's degree holders may be considered for appointment as Visiting Instructor)
• Expertise in Python programming
• Teaching experience in data science, machine learning, or quantitative analytic methods
• Ability to teach students from a wide variety of academic disciplines

Preferred Qualifications

• Formal coursework or teaching experience in machine learning
• Experience with cultural analytics or data ethics
• Background in quantitative analytic methods
