About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach approximately 6 course sections per academic year (typically 3 in the Fall and 3 in the Spring)
- Deliver instruction in introductory geoscience, historical geology, sedimentary geology, paleontology, and other areas of expertise
- Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive community where all students feel a sense of belonging
- Engage in professional development through teaching circles, workshops, and faculty meetings
- Advance scholarship by working with undergraduate research assistants and utilizing college research facilities
Requirements
- PhD in geology or a related field (ABD candidates who complete their degree by September 2026 will be considered)
- Ability to teach courses in historical geology, paleontology, and introductory geosciences
- Enthusiasm for teaching within a liberal arts environment
- Current authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and prior experience teaching undergraduate courses
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting undergraduate students and those from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to teach sedimentary geology and environmental geochemistry
- Ability to plan and lead field trips for courses
- Ability to engage undergraduate students in research
