Visiting Assistant Professor and Director of the Intellectual Property Law Clinic

Responsibilities

• Teach a clinic seminar focused on lawyering skills, professional development, and ethical practice using clinical teaching methods.
• Supervise all aspects of student practice and serve as the attorney of record in Clinic cases when required by jurisdiction rules.
• Oversee the administration of the IP Clinic, including client outreach, matter selection, reporting to funding sources, and file maintenance.
• Provide direct representation to entrepreneurs, businesses, and social ventures regarding intellectual property acquisition, retention, and licensing.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree.
• Pennsylvania bar membership (or eligibility to waive into the Pennsylvania bar).
• Relevant legal practice experience.
• Substantive expertise in intellectual property law (patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secrets).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Patent Bar membership.
• Prior clinical teaching experience or experience supervising law students.
• Understanding of and commitment to clinical teaching methodology.
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
