Virtualization Systems Admin

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage virtualization infrastructure using hypervisor platforms such as Hyper-V or KVM
• Create, configure, and manage virtual machines while ensuring efficient resource allocation and performance optimization
• Monitor virtual environment performance metrics and implement tuning strategies to maximize system efficiency
• Manage storage and networking components within virtualized environments to support business operations
• Implement and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity solutions for critical systems
• Troubleshoot virtualization-related issues and provide timely resolutions to minimize downtime
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and infrastructure changes
• Ensure security compliance and implement best practices for access control and data protection
• Collaborate with system administrators, network, storage, and backup engineers on capacity management

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience administering virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or KVM)
• Proven experience deploying, configuring, and managing virtual machines in production environments
• Strong knowledge of storage technologies and networking concepts in virtualized environments
• Solid understanding of backup and disaster recovery solutions
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automation tasks
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Virtualization certifications (VCP, MCVP, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
