Virtual Lab Systems Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Oversee strategic planning, management, and maintenance of software and hardware supporting information and systems security.
• Manage and maintain virtual lab environments using virtualization platforms to support large-scale computing assets and cloud resources.
• Configure, secure, and administer instructional computing infrastructure, both physical and virtual.
• Collaborate with faculty to design, deploy, and optimize lab environments for pedagogical and research requirements.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues across cloud, network, and hardware resources.
• Manage software and hardware licenses to ensure compliance with vendor contracts.
• Oversee budgets for virtualization and related technologies, including procurement and cost analysis.
• Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, security protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Networking, Information Systems, or a related field with 3 years of related experience; OR an Associate’s degree with 5 years of related experience.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Proficiency with networking, virtualization (specifically Proxmox), and cloud fundamentals including Azure administration.
• Demonstrated experience managing virtual lab environments and enterprise hardware.
• Experience managing software/hardware license compliance.
• Ability to lift and move equipment and work within lab, classroom, and data center environments.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical matters to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud services (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and identity platforms like Active Directory or Entra ID.
• Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code (PowerShell, Ansible).
• Background in budgeting, cost optimization, and capacity planning for compute resources.
• Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft/Azure Administrator.
