About the role
Responsibilities
- Respond to crime scenes, police precincts, and hospitals to record video evidence
- Record and preserve statements by defendants and witnesses
- Retrieve, preserve, and duplicate surveillance footage for trial and discovery
- Manage NYPD Body Worn Camera (BWC) footage including downloading, editing, and redacting
- Provide technical support for courtroom audio/video presentations
- Perform audio/video edits and clarify acoustic or visual issues in courtrooms
Requirements
- Must be permanent in the Civil Service title of Media Services Technician or reachable on Exam #3088
- Baccalaureate degree with 24 credits in electronics, television, broadcast, film, or audio production; OR
- Associate degree with 12 specialty credits and one year of relevant experience; OR
- Vocational certificate and two years of relevant experience; OR
- High school diploma and three years of relevant experience
- Valid New York State driver license
