About the role

Responsibilities

  • Respond to crime scenes, police precincts, and hospitals to record video evidence
  • Record and preserve statements by defendants and witnesses
  • Retrieve, preserve, and duplicate surveillance footage for trial and discovery
  • Manage NYPD Body Worn Camera (BWC) footage including downloading, editing, and redacting
  • Provide technical support for courtroom audio/video presentations
  • Perform audio/video edits and clarify acoustic or visual issues in courtrooms

Requirements

  • Must be permanent in the Civil Service title of Media Services Technician or reachable on Exam #3088
  • Baccalaureate degree with 24 credits in electronics, television, broadcast, film, or audio production; OR
  • Associate degree with 12 specialty credits and one year of relevant experience; OR
  • Vocational certificate and two years of relevant experience; OR
  • High school diploma and three years of relevant experience
  • Valid New York State driver license
