About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an advocate for specific felony trial teams within the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
  • Interview and assess the needs of victims and witnesses to provide specialized counseling and support.
  • Educate victims and witnesses regarding justice system procedures, court processes, and legal forms.
  • Identify and refer victims to appropriate community resources, such as counseling and support groups.
  • Assist with restitution by gathering information, preparing reports, and testifying in court.
  • Escort victims to court proceedings and provide in-court support.
  • Maintain detailed case notes, files, and statistical reports.
  • Conduct domestic violence assessments and provide recommendations to deputy prosecuting attorneys.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in justice administration, counseling, psychology, social sciences, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience interviewing and counseling clients involved in the justice system.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to victim/witness rights and the criminal justice system.
  • Knowledge of mental health evaluation, diagnostic techniques, and crisis intervention methods.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, and establish effective working relationships.
