Vice President, Wealth Management Counsel

Responsibilities

• Advise on legal and regulatory matters for the Ares Wealth Management Solutions (AWMS) business
• Identify and advise on legal and reputational risks associated with the AWMS business
• Provide legal support for the creation, marketing, and distribution of new and existing products, including semi-liquid vehicles
• Advise on relationships with distribution partners and negotiate distribution and related agreements
• Address regulatory matters related to the U.S. Investment Company Act, Securities Act, and Exchange Act, as well as offshore jurisdictions
• Advise on broker-dealer matters under FINRA rules and the Exchange Act
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with global business stakeholders and internal teams
• Oversee and enhance legal and governance frameworks for the AWMS business
• Manage relationships with outside counsel

Requirements

• JD degree with a strong academic background
• New York State law license and membership in good standing
• 8+ years of relevant experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to balance legal and commercial aspects of complex issues
