Vice President/Senior Vice President - Head of Biology

Responsibilities

• Work with the CSO and company leadership to develop and implement the overall Research Strategy
• Lead a department of cell biologists and pharmacologists to discover new therapeutics in the autoimmune, oncology, cardiovascular, and metabolic spaces
• Oversee the investigation of disease biology and the identification/validation of new drug targets
• Execute efficient preclinical lead optimization and translational biology, incorporating target engagement and functional biomarkers
• Ensure scientific rigor across a robust portfolio of early and late-stage discovery programs
• Oversee strategic and tactical execution of discovery research to enable timely and compliant IND submissions
• Recruit and lead a high-caliber scientific team and maintain an effective network of KOLs, collaborators, and service organizations
• Lead partnerships with external collaborators to deliver company research priorities

Requirements

• PhD in Cell Biology or a related field with expertise in autoimmunity, metabolic disease, and/or inflammation research
• Minimum of 10 years of scientific experience post-doctorate with a distinguished record of progressive leadership
• Solid background in drug discovery is required
• Expertise in multiple modalities, including small molecules, large molecules, gene therapies, and cell therapies
• Experience leading projects and teams in preclinical pharmacology and translational research
• Extensive publication record in first-tier journals
• Proven ability to recruit, train, and inspire high-performing scientific teams
