Vice President, Manufacturing Operations & Managing Director

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and risk-based oversight to translate corporate strategy into global manufacturing execution.
• Lead and manage the Vaxcyte Switzerland organization, including direct and matrixed reporting structures.
• Build and develop high-performing teams across Engineering & Facilities, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Supply Chain, MSAT, and Quality Control.
• Oversee and strategically manage CMO relationships and participation in Joint Steering Committees (JSCs).
• Lead capital projects, including the design, construction, startup, validation, and licensing of manufacturing facilities.
• Drive facility performance, site master planning, and continuous improvement/COGs reduction initiatives.
• Develop and monitor KPIs and dashboards to track performance and risks across the supply network.
• Collaborate with Process Development, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory teams to ensure execution excellence.

Requirements

• MS in Science or Engineering with 20+ years of experience, or a PhD with 15+ years of experience.
• 15+ years of leadership experience in GMP manufacturing, operations, engineering, or large-scale biologics environments.
• Proven experience leading global manufacturing networks and overseeing CMOs.
• Demonstrated success in facility startup, scale-up, and commercialization.
• Strong experience in microbial GMP manufacturing; experience with multi-valent complex vaccines is highly desired.
• Strong financial acumen, including capital project and budget management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
