Vice President, Government & Community Relations

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive engagement plans and strategies to advance NYCEDC’s policies and priorities
• Engage in high-level negotiations regarding ULURP and key project agreements
• Oversee the creation of strategic communications, including presentations and memos for senior leadership and elected officials
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across city agencies and community organizations
• Manage and coach assigned employees to support professional development and career growth
• Identify and proactively manage emerging issues and opportunities affecting NYCEDC

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in political science, public policy, or communications
• Minimum of 7 years of experience working with elected officials, public agencies, or community-based organizations
• Experience with New York City land use policies, procedures, and public approval processes
• Experience managing and coaching staff
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to travel throughout the five boroughs and attend evening meetings
• New York City residency required within 180 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience advancing and staffing a principal, ideally within government or for an elected official
