About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide scientific, strategic, and operational leadership for the genome technology enterprise, including high-throughput sequencing, single-cell/spatial genomics, and laboratory automation.
- Develop and execute a long-term technology roadmap to position the Center at the forefront of genome science.
- Lead the development of NIH and other major grant applications, serving as PI or Co-PI on significant proposals.
- Build and sustain multi-institutional collaborations with academia, healthcare systems, nonprofit organizations, and industry partners.
- Oversee research operations, including technology evaluation, implementation, and lifecycle management across all platforms.
- Manage annual operating and capital budgets, including strategic investments in instrumentation and infrastructure.
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and operational professionals.
- Partner with computational scientists and AI researchers to develop datasets that accelerate biological discovery.
Requirements
- PhD, MD, or MD/PhD with strong scientific credentials.
- Internationally recognized scientific leadership with a record of innovation in genomics.
- 10+ years of management experience leading large multidisciplinary scientific organizations.
- Proven success as a PI or Co-PI on major externally funded research programs (e.g., NIH grants).
- Established record of high-impact scientific publications.
- Experience managing multimillion-dollar scientific programs and operating budgets.
- Deep technical knowledge of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and genomic analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to translate emerging technologies into scalable, high-throughput research platforms.
