About the role
Responsibilities
- Own the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of all external financial reporting, including quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, proxy).
- Serve as the company’s foremost technical accounting authority, ensuring policies are established, executed, and documented to minimize risk.
- Direct day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, intercompany, consolidations, fixed assets, and lease accounting.
- Oversee high-volume transactional processes including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
- Lead the Accounting Transformation function, driving the roadmap for ERP modernization, process automation, and AI/RPA implementation.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls over financial reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Section 404 requirements.
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing, multi-functional accounting organization of 300+ professionals.
- Act as a strategic partner to the CFO, Board of Directors, and Audit Committee.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration; CPA is required.
- 20+ years of progressively responsible accounting leadership experience.
- Significant experience in Big 4 public accounting (audit of public companies) or senior corporate accounting roles at large public companies.
- Demonstrated experience with SEC filings, accounting policy, and controllership functions.
- Proven experience with SOX 404 compliance and internal controls.
- Experience with inventory and cost accounting within a high-volume, multi-location business environment.
- Exceptional executive communication skills with the ability to present to Boards and Audit Committees.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree (MBA or Master’s in Accounting).
- Experience in multi-site retail, consumer finance, or the automotive sector.
- Experience supporting investor relations and non-GAAP financial measure governance.
- Proven track record leading large-scale finance transformation initiatives or ERP implementations.
