Vice President - Accounting Policy EMEA

Responsibilities

• Manage the Bank’s balance sheet and Profit and Loss accounts, including Treasury Finance reporting.
• Prepare technology suspense accounts, ensuring validity, accuracy, and timely capitalization of assets.
• Produce and review daily reconciliations between Front and Back Office systems and daily P&L reports for the Global Market Division.
• Investigate reconciliation differences and advise on root cause and corrective actions.
• Maintain the Bank’s fixed assets and leased assets register, including review of system development applications and investment vs. expense treatment.
• Prepare monthly closing journals, ledger adjustments, analysis, and reconciliations.
• Execute quarterly and semi-annual Japanese GAAP and US GAAP reporting and manage auditor queries.
• Handle pension accounting journals, monthly balance sheet controls for nostro accounts, and Variable Interest Entity reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree with relevant accounting qualifications.
• Proven experience in financial closing and reporting teams or within a Big 4 accounting firm.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel/VBA, Word, and Access.
• Knowledge of Japanese GAAP and US GAAP.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work with urgency, prioritize tasks, and maintain accuracy in a pressurized environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with a strong focus on controls and governance frameworks.
• Exposure to various accounting software packages.
