About the role
Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and optimize particle visual effects such as fire, smoke, explosion trails, and sparkle bursts
- Work with the Art Director and Lead Artist to create visually stunning effects using the Avalanche engine
- Research and evolve the Avalanche effects pipeline and expertise
- Deconstruct visual references and recreate them in a real-time game engine
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in the AAA game industry
- Expert in creating high-quality particle effects and textures
- Portfolio showcasing a high-quality effects reel and high-resolution effect textures
- Strong knowledge of environmental effects, cloth simulations, lighting, and dynamics
- High proficiency in technical problem solving
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Maya, Adobe After Effects, or 3D Studio Max
- Experience with C++
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with PS4 and Xbox One hardware
- Experience creating real-time effects through proprietary engines
- Experience writing scripts or plugins in MEL or C/C++ for Maya
- Experience in creating real-time shaders and post effects
