About the role

Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and optimize particle visual effects such as fire, smoke, explosion trails, and sparkle bursts
  • Work with the Art Director and Lead Artist to create visually stunning effects using the Avalanche engine
  • Research and evolve the Avalanche effects pipeline and expertise
  • Deconstruct visual references and recreate them in a real-time game engine

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in the AAA game industry
  • Expert in creating high-quality particle effects and textures
  • Portfolio showcasing a high-quality effects reel and high-resolution effect textures
  • Strong knowledge of environmental effects, cloth simulations, lighting, and dynamics
  • High proficiency in technical problem solving
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Maya, Adobe After Effects, or 3D Studio Max
  • Experience with C++

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with PS4 and Xbox One hardware
  • Experience creating real-time effects through proprietary engines
  • Experience writing scripts or plugins in MEL or C/C++ for Maya
  • Experience in creating real-time shaders and post effects
