About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled veterinary technical support and assist clinicians and students in various hospital services including oncology, radiology, and emergency care
- Maintain daily patient records, record procedures, and manage medications
- Use electronic medical records systems to accurately reflect patient charges and medical history
- Assist with diagnostic procedures, surgical care, anesthetic administration, and specimen collection
- Monitor vital signs and perform patient advocacy for animals under care
- Instruct and mentor fourth-year veterinary students and residents in clinical techniques and protocols
- Maintain and troubleshoot specialty-related equipment and manage pharmaceutical/consumable inventory
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree from an AVMA accredited school of veterinary technology or equivalent education/experience as defined by Washington State Department of Health requirements
- Must obtain Washington State Veterinary Technician license within six months of hire
- Must pass the Washington State veterinary technician exam
- Must pass the WSU radiation safety training exam
- Ability to work evening, weekend, or overnight schedules as required

- Experience training and teaching students, interns, and residents in specialty practice, hospital, or academic settings
