About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide veterinary anesthesia, surgical support, and clinical care for a wide range of animal species.
- Act as the lead technician on procedure days, assisting in surgeries and monitoring patients under anesthesia.
- Prepare anesthesia dose sheets and maintain operating suites for USDA-covered species.
- Perform treatments, diagnostic tasks, and carry out duties typical of both clinical and research environments.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards governing controlled substance use.
- Train, observe, and monitor research personnel to uphold procedural standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in veterinary technology, biology, animal science, or a related science, plus two years of laboratory or animal care experience; OR an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology with current RVT, LVT, or CVT certification, plus two years of experience.
- Experience with animal restraint and handling of farm and small animal species.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including electronic data management and reporting.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and participate in the Occupational Health Program.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand or walk on hard surfaces for most of the workday.
Preferred Qualifications
- AALAS certification (LAT or LATg).
- Experience working in both small animal veterinary practices and animal research environments.
