About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct daily care and oversight for hospital animals, including feeding, cleaning, enrichment, medicating, and monitoring physical and behavioral health.
  • Maintain medical records, vaccinations, testing, and treatments.
  • Assist the Vet Tech Coordinator and/or Director with the management of students performing hospital duties, including scheduling and ensuring adherence to welfare and safety protocols.
  • Support animal acquisition, intake, health assessments, and foster/adoption protocols.
  • Manage inventory control and monitor supply levels.
  • Prepare and set up laboratory sessions, including equipment, supplies, and scheduling animal use.
  • Assist instructors during labs with live animal handling, restraint, and procedural preparation.
  • Perform maintenance on veterinary equipment.

Requirements

  • Three years of advanced clerical or para-professional work involving data collection and program-related information, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • An Associate's Degree may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and equipment.
  • Proficiency in basic PC hardware and standard software.
  • Ability to collect, compile, and analyze data for reports and studies.
  • Strong English oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a veterinary technician in Pennsylvania.
  • A passing VTNE score or foreign equivalent.
