About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency medical care, triage, and technical clinical procedures for small animals in a 24/7 state-of-the-art emergency room.
- Assist with life support techniques, medication administration, intravenous catheter placement, venipuncture, and other emergent procedures.
- Operate and maintain sophisticated diagnostic equipment, including oxygen cages, ECGs, fluid pumps, and bedside blood analyzers.
- Perform patient assessment, emergency stabilization, and maintain accurate medical record documentation.
- Provide instruction and guidance to veterinary students, interns, and technician interns through tutorial and example.
- Assist with maintaining the blood bank and participate in hospital emergency response protocols.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree OR Associate's degree in veterinary technology, OR CVT/equivalent, OR equivalent years of relevant experience.
- Experience working in a similar clinical or emergency veterinary environment.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and twisting for prolonged periods.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a high-volume small animal emergency or intensive care setting.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor junior staff or students.
