Veterinary Hospital Receptionist

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, greeting visitors and notifying technical staff of arrivals
• Manage the hospital appointment calendar, including scheduling and reviewing online bookings
• Handle incoming practice phone calls and route them to the appropriate departments
• Confirm upcoming appointments via the client's preferred communication method (phone, email, or text)
• Maintain a clean and well-stocked waiting area, utilizing appropriate disinfectants as needed
• Provide backup support to technical staff by assisting with patient loading or discharges when necessary
• Optimize hospital workflow by managing appointment durations and communicating wait times to clients

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice or a customer-facing role
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional telephone and computer proficiency
• Compassionate and professional demeanor, especially during emotional or stressful situations
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 pounds as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience using a veterinary Practice Management System
