Veterinary Hospital Receptionist

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for clients and patients, providing excellent customer care and representing the hospital's mission and values.
• Manage the practice phone lines, routing calls appropriately and handling inquiries.
• Maintain the hospital appointment calendar, including scheduling new appointments and reviewing online bookings.
• Greet visitors by name, notify technical staff of arrivals, and monitor wait times to ensure an optimal experience.
• Confirm upcoming appointments via the client's preferred communication method (phone, email, or text).
• Maintain a clean and well-stocked waiting area, following proper disinfection protocols when necessary.
• Provide administrative and logistical support to technical staff, such as assisting with patient discharges or room preparation when needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice or a customer-facing role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional telephone and computer skills.
• Ability to remain compassionate, professional, and calm during emotional or stressful situations.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 pounds as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience using a veterinary Practice Management System.
