Veterinary Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, professional care to patients and clients
• Communicate clearly with clients, doctors, and team members
• Assist veterinarians during exams, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures
• Safely restrain animals using low-stress handling techniques
• Administer medications, vaccines, and collect lab samples
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment plans
• Educate clients on vaccinations and treatment protocols
• Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms and hospital spaces

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and practice management software)
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle animals up to 130 pounds
• Ability to work safely around cleaning chemicals and anesthetic gases
• Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods
• Flexible schedule availability

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with animals
• Veterinary or animal care background
