Veterinary Assistant

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of laboratory and clinical activities by assisting students, staff, and faculty in veterinary medical and surgical skills training.
• Organize laboratories by preparing animals, equipment, consumables, and student groups.
• Assist with laboratory set-up, cleaning, inventorying, and the replacement of equipment.
• Manage training elements, generate activity schedules, and maintain student clinical records.
• Assist with the handling, maintenance, monitoring, and care of small and large animals used in teaching.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, USDA, and IACUC guidelines and maintain accurate animal medical records.
• Collate supply requests and coordinate with the site coordinator regarding facility and operational needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in animal handling and care.
• Training in animal care, handling, or husbandry.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in a veterinary or animal-related field.
• Experience working in the veterinary medical field.
• Experience in a higher education environment.
• Knowledge of university program goals and objectives.
