Veterinary Assistant

Responsibilities

• Perform basic exam procedures and obtain accurate, thorough medical histories
• Execute proper animal handling and restraint techniques
• Perform venipuncture (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
• Conduct digital radiology (X-ray) including patient positioning
• Utilize laboratory skills including microscope work (ear and fecal cytology) and IDEXX in-house laboratory equipment
• Assist with monitoring general anesthesia and surgical procedures
• Provide excellent client communication and education regarding pet care

Requirements

• 3+ years of clinical experience as a veterinary assistant or receptionist
• Proficiency in animal handling and restraint
• Demonstrated skills in venipuncture and digital radiology
• Strong laboratory skills and ability to document medical histories accurately
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work a schedule of five 8-hour shifts, including some weekend coverage
