Verification/Authorization Specialist

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the prior authorization process, including documentation collection and client contact
• Identify and submit prior and retro authorization requests to payors accurately and timely
• Ensure pre-authorizations are approved with proper procedure codes before service
• Verify ICD10 diagnosis codes entered by therapists
• Input authorizations and update screens to ensure processing
• Contact providers and patients regarding authorization, denials, and appeals
• Maintain robust documentation of authorization processes and procedures
• Generate expected collections reports and correct patient account errors
• Maintain referred physician National Provider Identifier (NPI)
• Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 3 years of experience in the field or a related area
• Experience in a medical practice ensuring regulatory compliance
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently under tight deadlines
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
