Vehicle Inspection Station Compliance Officer

Responsibilities

• Perform station audits to maintain Safety and Emissions Inspection station compliance
• Observe and report on station compliance regarding state and federal inspection regulations
• Self-manage a set number of station audits within the assigned geographical area
• Appoint or cancel stations from the program and serve suspensions on stations or technicians
• Respond to consumer complaints and testify in hearings
• Represent the Department of Transportation at safety and emission inspection meetings
• Conduct most work on the road in various vehicle repair stations Monday through Friday

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid, clean PA driver’s license
• Ability to obtain and maintain Safety Inspection Mechanic Certification and Certified Emission Inspector Certification
• Strong computer skills and ability to work effectively with office equipment
• Effective communication skills for interacting with the public and documenting violations
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle continuous driving times of up to 90 minutes
• Ability to work independently and perform tasks in various shop environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous auditing or investigative experience
• Automotive knowledge (though training is provided)
