Varsity Boys' Basketball Assistant Coach

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head coach in conducting and developing practice and game plans
• Analyze individual player abilities, strengths, and weaknesses to factor into season strategy
• Support team rules and regulations and ensure player familiarity
• Assist in organizing team-building sessions and activities off the court
• Instill good sportsmanship in all team players and phases of athletic participation
• Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions
• Use various instructional techniques to improve student-athlete abilities
• Take necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, and facilities

Requirements

• Passion for basketball and in-depth knowledge of the game
• Extensive knowledge of current coaching techniques and procedures
• Knowledge of VISAA and basketball rules
• Ability to instruct, relate to, and supervise student-athletes
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the athletic schedule
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for equipment setup

Preferred Qualifications

• Basketball coaching experience
• Familiarity with independent school or collegiate athletic environments
