Variable Hours Officer (Graduate Student Life Wellness Advisor)

Responsibilities

• Support the holistic development and well-being of graduate students through advising, community building, and student life programming.
• Collaborate with student leaders and groups to design and implement initiatives that foster belonging and promote mental health.
• Serve as lead staff designee for over 280 student events, managing logistics, vendor communication, and registration.
• Manage the development and implementation of wellness initiatives and provide individualized support or referrals to relevant resources.
• Assist with student onboarding, academic advising, and community-building for specific MS programs.
• Create, edit, and publish content for Columbia Engineering social media platforms and support recruitment/yield communications.
• Act as a first point of contact for prospective and newly admitted students via email, phone, and in-person inquiries.

Requirements

• Up to 2 years of related experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, time, and project management skills with the ability to adapt to changing conditions.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekend hours as needed to cover events and programs.
• Experience with or comfort in public speaking and presenting to groups.
