Variable Hours Officer (Graduate Student Life Communications Advisor)

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute communications efforts to promote graduate student life initiatives, programs, and resources.
• Develop and manage weekly Graduate Student Life newsletters, including content planning and distribution.
• Create engaging, student-centered content across digital, print, and social media platforms.
• Design basic marketing assets such as flyers, graphics, and presentations using established brand guidelines.
• Support specific MS programs (MSAI and MBAxMS) through student onboarding, community building, and recruitment communications.
• Manage web pages for Columbia Engineering Graduate Student Life and professional development offerings.
• Serve as a point of contact for prospective and newly admitted students via email, phone, and in-person support.
• Assist with professional development workshops and grade required student assignments for the PDL core curriculum.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience.
• Up to 2 years of related experience in communications or a similar field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, time, and project management skills with the ability to adapt to changing conditions.
• Ability to speak effectively in front of groups.
• Flexibility to work nights and/or weekend hours as needed to support events and programs.
• A positive, mission-oriented, and forward-thinking attitude.
