About the role

Responsibilities

  • Install test instrumentation including data loggers, network cables, flowmeters, aero probes, thermocouples, and pressure transducers
  • Execute engineering validation tests to document vehicle performance related to fuel economy, powertrain, and fuel systems
  • Create, edit, and close work orders to document vehicle preparation, testing, and maintenance activities
  • Maintain instrumentation inventory and perform functionality checks prior to tests
  • Troubleshoot vehicle and equipment issues using diagnostic manuals and software
  • Participate in root cause analysis for instrumentation or test vehicle issues
  • Perform minor vehicle repairs and modifications to maintain project timelines
  • Coordinate with validation team members and other organizational groups to complete projects

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree and 4 years of engineering support or mechanic experience, OR 6 years of engineering support or mechanic experience
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for trips ranging from 1 day to 2 weeks
  • Legal authorization to work in the US on an unrestricted basis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with commercial vehicle engine systems and components
  • Experience with data acquisition systems (ETAS, Canalyzer, National Instruments, Somat, Dewesoft, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as multimeters, thermocouples, and transducers
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation requirements for trucks and trailers
  • Experience with e-vehicles and high voltage safety procedures
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or willingness to obtain Class A and P endorsements
