About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist in operating gas/oil-fired boilers and associated auxiliary equipment such as fans, valves, and desuperheaters
- Perform Lockout/Tagout procedures in strict accordance with safety protocols
- Conduct regular equipment rounds and document operational readings on logsheets or computer systems
- Operate and assist with water plant equipment, turbine generators, cooling systems, and condensate return systems
- Support routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning and painting assigned work areas
- Monitor compressed air systems, including air compressors and dryers
- Complete the site-specific power plant training program for Utility Plant Operator I
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of experience in an industrial, process, or power plant operating boilers, pumps, fans, or similar equipment, OR graduation from a two-year industrial technology program
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 operation
- Ability to climb stairs and work in an industrial environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an industrial setting utilizing DCS and PLCs to control large machines
- Licensed Boiler Operator (State of Minnesota or similar)
