User Services Specialist

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day Information Desk operations, including frontline public service, circulation support, and basic troubleshooting.
• Provide work direction, scheduling, training, and mentoring for student assistants.
• Support circulation workflows for books, journals, media, and technology.
• Assist with technology lending, maker services, and creative technology support.
• Coordinate building programs, events, and activities, including space reservations and facilities coordination.
• Maintain physical collections through reshelving, shelf reading, and inventory support.
• Contribute to the assessment and continuous improvement of access services workflows and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years of experience in an academic library, higher education, or a similar public-facing service environment.
• Working knowledge of discovery and integrated library systems (e.g., Ex Libris Alma/Primo).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
• Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and lead student assistants.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with diverse campus constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with academic library access services, including circulation, building operations, and event support.
• Experience with technology lending or maker services.
