About the role
Responsibilities
- Track, evaluate, and develop urban design recommendations for various governmental entities including the City Planning Commission and Landmark Preservation Commission
- Conduct research and monitor urban design trends to support planning and policy initiatives
- Prepare graphic and written materials such as hand drawings, digital models, and animations
- Provide technical assistance to Community Boards and respond to public inquiries
- Represent the Borough President in meetings with stakeholders, community groups, and government agencies
- Testify at public hearings on behalf of the Borough President
- Mentor and supervise junior staff and interns
- Maintain a working knowledge of the NYC Zoning Resolution
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree and two years of experience in community-centered activities related to urban design
- OR High school graduation and six years of relevant community work experience
- OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Expertise in architecture, landscape architecture, and/or urban design
- Proficiency in design technology and visual communication
