Upper School Dance Teacher

Responsibilities

• Teach four sections of Upper School Dance, covering various styles from beginner to advanced levels
• Develop and execute engaging lesson plans that encourage critical and independent thinking
• Produce fall and spring performances for Upper School dance students
• Co-choreograph and assist in the production of annual 8th Grade and Upper School musicals
• Serve as a co-advisor to a group of Upper School students
• Support student participation in off-campus dance festivals and the ISAS Fine Arts Festival
• Organize field trips and assist in recruiting guest artists for master classes and residencies
• Partner with colleagues to align curriculum and design engaging lessons through departmental meetings

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Dance or a related field (Advanced degree preferred)
• Successful teaching experience in Dance with middle and high school students
• Proficiency in teaching ballet, contemporary, and jazz
• Knowledge of dance history, composition, and choreography
• Strong classroom management techniques and understanding of adolescent development
• Ability to work in a school environment and complete all required background checks

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in curriculum development
• Interest in developing innovative uses of technology in the classroom
• Interest in serving as a club sponsor or athletics coach
