Upholstery Technician

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, and sew fabrics and leathers utilizing areas of the leather hides for the best finish results
• Cut, bond and assemble seat cushion foam to final design and style
• Design and fabricate quality patterns for upholstery and foam build for VIP aircraft seating
• Operate sewing machine to seam cushions and join various sections of covering material
• Fit, install, and secure material on work piece using hand tools, power tools, glue, cement, and staples
• Adjust and replace webbing, padding, and springs
• Read Engineering drawings to determine material types and quantities
• Draw cutting lines on material following patterns, templates, sketches, and blueprints
• Mentor and train lesser skilled technicians

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Two years of experience using commercial sewing machines, sergers, and hand tools
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation
• Ability to use measuring tools and perform basic math computations
• Ability to lift 35-55 lbs. consistently during 8–10-hour shifts
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs and work in small, restricted areas
• Computer literacy
