About the role
Responsibilities
- Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning in the Unmanned Aerial Systems Department
- Prepare and submit syllabi in accordance with department and divisional policies
- Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, including modern instructional technology
- Modify instructional methods to meet the needs of a diverse student body
- Support both classroom and online efforts to promote student success
- Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner and maintain accurate progress records
- Teach a minimum of 15 payload hours per semester (equivalent to a 40-hour work week)
- Participate in department, division, and college-wide meetings
- Assist with curriculum design for individual classes, modules, or entire courses of study
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in aviation, aeronautics, UAS, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- OR an Associate's degree in a related field combined with widely accepted industry licensure/certification
- US Citizenship is required for ITAR compliance
- Demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology and multimedia-based instruction
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work within a diverse college community
Preferred Qualifications
- FAA pilot certificate (Private, Commercial, or Instructor)
- UAS pilot or credential experience
- Evidence of successful prior teaching experience
- Demonstrated commitment to innovative student learning strategies
