University Security Officer

Responsibilities

• Respond to and assist police officers with criminal, medical, fire, and other campus emergencies
• Conduct proactive campus patrols using a community policing approach to maintain a high-visibility presence
• Produce clear, concise, and accurate non-criminal reports
• Ensure the physical security of university property and identify potential hazards
• Support campus activities by managing event security, parking, and transportation
• Enforce campus parking rules and support the operation of shuttle and gate functions
• Provide community services including lost and found, room lockouts, and vehicle jumpstarts
• Assist with CCTV and alarm monitoring as required

Requirements

• No convictions for crimes of violence or offenses involving physical force
• Valid Ohio driver’s license with a good driving record
• Ability to pass an extensive background investigation, drug screen, and psychological testing
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to act with tact and diplomacy
• Ability to work in a diverse, multi-cultural university environment
• Ability to remain calm and react appropriately in stressful or dangerous situations

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous work experience involving decision-making, problem resolution, and de-escalation
• Associate degree or completion of college-level coursework
