University Police Officer

Responsibilities

• Patrol university property and adjacent areas to ensure a safe and secure environment for the campus community
• Exercise police powers in the detection and apprehension of law violators and investigate crimes, accidents, and complaints
• Maintain order at special events and enforce state motor vehicle laws, university by-laws, and parking regulations
• Conduct detailed investigations and prepare accurate reports, including State Motor Vehicle Accident and Uniform Incident Reports
• Provide public assistance, including lockout services, escorts, first aid, and emergency medical response (CPR, Narcan, AED)
• Represent the department at community engagement events and participate in crime prevention programs

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of a Massachusetts Basic Police Training Program from an accredited academy (or equivalent training approved by the MPTC)
• Ability to pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT)
• Ability to pass a psychological evaluation
