Unit Secretary

Responsibilities

• Manage reception desk functions by providing a warm welcome and farewell to all patients, guests, and visitors.
• Provide clerical and administrative support, including computer order entry for bed transfers, discharges, and physician consults.
• Act as a liaison between patients and clinical staff members to communicate needs and enhance the patient experience.
• Handle telephone reception by answering department calls promptly and professionally.
• Assist the clinical director with personnel records, tracking certifications, and non-clinical performance improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate unit supplies and maintenance requests to ensure an orderly environment.
• Prepare miscellaneous paper charts for Health Information Management scanning and maintain accurate daily census documentation.
• Answer patient call lights and communicate urgent needs to the care team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to operate general office equipment such as computers, printers, scanners, and telephones.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
• Experience in a customer service role.
