Unit Secretary

Responsibilities

• Manage reception desk functions by providing a warm welcome and farewell to all patients, guests, and visitors.
• Provide clerical and administrative support, including computer order entry, report preparation, and record maintenance.
• Act as a liaison between patients and staff members to enhance the patient experience.
• Coordinate non-clinical services such as unit repairs, maintenance, and supply ordering.
• Handle telephone reception by answering calls promptly and communicating in a professional manner.
• Assist the clinical director with personnel records, tracking certifications, and non-clinical performance improvement initiatives.
• Manage unit documentation, including daily census, physician consults, and preparing paper charts for scanning.
• Respond to patient call lights and communicate needs to the appropriate care team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and unexpected situations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
• Experience in a customer service role.
