Unit Manager

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to a team of Air Traffic Controllers, Flight Service Specialists, and Supervisors.
• Oversee air traffic operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance within a designated scope.
• Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Support recruitment, training, and development initiatives to ensure team success.
• Implement new technologies, procedures, and programs while guiding the team through change.
• Act as a key liaison between NAV CANADA and stakeholders, including airport operators, regulatory bodies, and union representatives.
• Develop and manage budgets, staffing plans, and operational forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with fatigue risk management and safety protocols.

Requirements

• Successful completion of secondary school.
• At least 3 years of leadership experience managing a diverse team, preferably in a unionized or operational environment.
• Demonstrated experience in managing a budget and related financial processes.
• Solid understanding of working within an operational environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate and influence at various levels.
• Proven ability to motivate, mentor, and develop professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Human Resources and Labour Relations.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in fast-paced settings.
