About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise Lead Operators, Trainers, and General Operators to ensure production targets are met
- Manage crewing boards and align operational heads to meet customer build plans
- Perform shift handovers covering all necessary KPIs and unit performance
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for safety, quality, and efficiency
- Manage data accuracy regarding quality standards, cycle times, and scrap booking
- Ensure all employees are trained to produce and ship defect-free parts
- Manage all Health & Safety aspects within the unit
- Monitor staff attendance and resolve HR issues
- Supervise the area in the absence of the Shift Manager
Requirements
- ILM Level 3 in Management and IOSH trained (or willing to work towards)
- Numerate and literate to minimum O Level / GCSE "C"
- Experience leading within an automotive unionised environment
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks on shift
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft packages
- Strong analytical and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Problem solving training
- First Aid or Fire Warden training
- Knowledge of injection moulding machine operations
- Experience with Mattec, Shoplogix, RFGen, or Deviation systems
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies such as 5S, Kaizen, or SMED
