Unit Leader

Responsibilities

• Supervise Lead Operators, Trainers, and General Operators to ensure production targets are met
• Manage crewing boards and align operational heads to meet customer build plans
• Perform shift handovers covering all necessary KPIs and unit performance
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for safety, quality, and efficiency
• Manage data accuracy regarding quality standards, cycle times, and scrap booking
• Ensure all employees are trained to produce and ship defect-free parts
• Manage all Health & Safety aspects within the unit
• Monitor staff attendance and resolve HR issues
• Supervise the area in the absence of the Shift Manager

Requirements

• ILM Level 3 in Management and IOSH trained (or willing to work towards)
• Numerate and literate to minimum O Level / GCSE "C"
• Experience leading within an automotive unionised environment
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks on shift
• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft packages
• Strong analytical and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Problem solving training
• First Aid or Fire Warden training
• Knowledge of injection moulding machine operations
• Experience with Mattec, Shoplogix, RFGen, or Deviation systems
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies such as 5S, Kaizen, or SMED
