About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage MEC site safety and health programs, ensuring compliance with Project Work Plans, Accident Prevention Plans, and Site Safety and Health Plans.
- Monitor all aspects of UXO clearance activities and ensure compliance with HAZWOPER, HAZCOM, and federal/state blasting and demolition requirements.
- Perform risk hazardous analysis and risk assessments for all UXO clearance tasks.
- Develop and review standard operating procedures, engineering controls, and administrative controls to ensure safe operations.
- Provide OSHA safety training to on-site employees and sub-contractor personnel.
- Conduct daily safety inspections, weekly safety audits, and maintain all required safety forms and logs.
- Investigate all close calls and accidents and conduct daily safety briefings for all site personnel.
- Perform First Aid and CPR training to ensure employee qualifications remain current.
Requirements
- Graduate of a qualified explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) school with at least eight years of combined military and commercial UXO experience (or qualified UXO school graduate with eight years commercial experience per DDESB TP18).
- Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification (29 CFR 1910.120).
- Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour and OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety courses.
- Current 29 CFR 1910.120 HAZWOPER Physical.
- Qualified American Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- Valid Driver License.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and documentation control systems.
- Ability to travel extensively and work outside normal hours or away from primary work locations as required.
