Underwriting Specialist

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of Umbrella and Excess Liability accounts to drive profitability and growth
• Underwrite new and renewal accounts in alignment with LoB governance frameworks and underwriting guidelines
• Negotiate pricing, participation, and terms and conditions with brokers and producers
• Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with brokers and clients within the territory
• Act as a technical resource and mentor for Underwriters and Senior Underwriters
• Manage complex referrals and re-underwrite complex business as appropriate
• Ensure accurate policy documentation and maintain detailed electronic or paper files for all risks

Requirements

• 4+ years of underwriting experience specifically in Umbrella and Excess Liability
• Expert understanding of Liability products and portfolio management
• Established and recognized relationships with brokers at a peer group level
• Strong risk assessment and management skills regarding inherent exposures and natural hazards
• Proficiency in contract drafting, interpretation, and implementing robust wordings
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple accounts and processes to meet strict deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Economics, Finance, Insurance Management, or Business Administration
• Completion of professional insurance qualifications
