Underwriting Counsel

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and evaluate title searches, surveys, and insurance risk factors for real estate transactions
• Evaluate risk and exposures to determine the acceptability of business
• Provide high-level support to agents and approved attorneys to ensure accurate issuance of commitments and policies
• Explain underwriting requirements, exceptions, and risk considerations clearly to internal and external customers
• Serve as a subject-matter expert on title insurance and related law in Massachusetts
• Determine premiums, terms, and conditions based on established rules, rates, and guidelines

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree
• Admission to the Massachusetts Bar
• 2+ years of related work experience
• Strong expertise in risk analysis and title search evaluation
