Underwriting Associate

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and maintain existing policy information to ensure data is accurate and appropriately priced for renewals
• Respond to client requests and provide advice regarding insurance products and underwriting appetite
• Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and resolve inquiries to ensure a smooth underwriting process
• Prepare and organize documentation related to underwriting submissions and policy issuance
• Assess risks associated with individual insurance applications using standard and substandard criteria
• Support premium calculations by ensuring accurate application of rates based on underwriting guidelines
• Build and maintain reports on underwriting activities, key performance indicators, and relevant metrics
• Conduct internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information
• Collaborate with underwriting teams to coordinate tasks and contribute to the overall underwriting process
• Serve as a key point of contact for customers and agents to deliver excellent customer service

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Actuarial, Business Administration, or a related discipline
• Minimum of 6 months of experience in Property and Casualty Underwriting
• Must meet minimum requirements for state P&C and/or surplus line licenses

Preferred Qualifications

• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation
