Underwriter, Surety

Responsibilities

• Manage and underwrite a portfolio of commercial surety accounts.
• Solicit new and renewal submissions from brokers using strategic communication.
• Utilize financial expertise and industry knowledge to provide underwriting recommendations and company analyses.
• Identify risk exposures, special hazards, and appropriate controls.
• Develop and maintain agency and broker relationships to generate new business opportunities.
• Monitor industry trends and economic factors to adjust business tactics and strategies.
• Meet department goals regarding profit, service, and relationship management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• 1-3 years of surety underwriting or comparable work experience.
• Knowledge of the insurance industry.
• Knowledge of basic business financial reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong oral and written communication, negotiation, and marketing skills.
• Ability to use various systems and software programs to conduct daily business.

Benefits

• Competitive pay range of $82,000 to $118,000 based on skills and experience.
